As you know, we are all learning how to use the ESS system together. Several of you have learned more through trial and error.
Below are the steps to follow at this time in case you need to be absent from school.
EXPECTED ABSENCES
- Talk with an administrator about the proposed absence. Do not just leave a message on a machine.
- Complete a leave form for all absences. Be sure to check the reason (illness, jury, duty, personal, vacation, etc.) for the absence.
If the leave is for jury duty, you must attach a copy of the jury summons to the leave form.
All personal leave requests must be approved by the principal.
- Call/log into CASE and get a job number and a sub’s name.
Write the job number and the sub’s name on the leave form.
Put the leave form in Betty Swanson’s box for approval.
4. Go into ESS and add the sub’s name and job number in the “comment” section on the date of your proposed absence.
Submit the absence electronically. (DUTY LEAVE requests are not entered into ESS. Only complete the paper version)
5. The ESS absence will go to Matt electronically to be approved or rejected.
- You will receive an e-mail from ESS indicating that the leave is either approved or rejected.
- If the leave is approved, pat yourself on the back! You have been approved to be absent.
- If the leave is rejected, read the reason for the rejection in the comment section and then start again.
UNEXPECTED ABSENCE
1. Call Betty Swanson to notify her of your unexpected absence from work.
2. If you are able, based on circumstances, call/log the absence into CASE as soon as possible in hopes that a substitute will pick up the job.
3. Call or email your grade level chair to notify them about your absence.
